Local news, broadcast-grade

Community and small-scale DAB stations are often the last broadcasters covering their towns, but they run without the newsroom infrastructure bigger broadcasters take for granted. Radeeo Newsroom is a set of four tools we are building to change that, aimed at small independent news broadcasters across England and Wales. These are proposals under active development, not shipped features, and we're seeking support from the DCMS Local News Fund to accelerate them.

Newsdesk
Bulletins on the clock, every hour, guaranteed.

Schedule news bulletins at the top of the hour from your own newsroom or a bulletin provider. The bulletin starts on the clock, whatever else is happening. And if a bulletin ever fails to arrive, listeners hear continuity, never silence, and never yesterday's news presented as today's.

Emergency
Breaking news and official alerts, straight to air.

A proper break-into-programming workflow for verified breaking news, protected by the Airlock like everything else. Official public alerts, such as severe weather and flood warnings for your own patch, can be carried on air automatically or with an editor's approval, keeping local stations useful when their communities need them most.

Field
Remote news gathering from any phone.

A free companion app for reporters. Go live to the studio in broadcast quality from a council meeting, a flood site or a football ground. Record reports offline and file them back with notes attached. Take interviewees' contributions over an ordinary phone call. And every spoken report is automatically transcribed and turned into a written summary the presenter can read straight out on air, so one reporter in the field can put news on air in minutes. No kit beyond the phone already in the reporter's pocket.

Wire
Share bulletins between neighbouring stations.

An exchange that lets stations pool bulletins and reports with named partners or a community pool, with attribution and expiry built in. Ten small newsrooms can cover a county between them without duplicating each other's work.

We're recruiting pilot stations

We plan to pilot Radeeo Newsroom with community and small-scale DAB stations across England and Wales, with free licences, training and direct support for the project period. If your station carries local news, or wants to, we'd like to hear from you.
